From literature searching and gathering to the complete design, development and implementation of a research project—we can assist at any point along the spectrum. There are no groups or organizations in the profession devoted to consultation on such a wide range of services related to research. Over the years Dr. McCoy has been contacted by numerous individuals and groups interested in conducting their own research but not knowing where to start. The main thing to remember is that you do not have to go it alone. Whatever your need or desire in regards to research we can provide assistance and guidance. Literature Searching: Perhaps you just want some research information to use in your practice to educate your patients, put together a lecture or just for your own education. Literature searching for the novice can be a daunting task. Just knowing where to begin can be overwhelming. We can do the searching for you and then provide you with a detailed reference list of what we found or we can even provide training so that you can do it yourself. We can also provide training to groups in person or via the internet. We can even help the seasoned researcher if you just need help with some of the grunt work so you can focus on the bigger picture.
Literature Gathering and Interpretation: Whether you are a novice or a seasoned researcher, once the literature is found it must be gathered. This can be a tedious and time consuming process involving going to libraries requesting copies of articles, ordering the articles, gathering articles over the internet and then ultimately reviewing those articles and determining their value to you. We can handle this tedious process for you.
Research Proposals: In order to conduct a full fledged research project the first thing you will need (after the idea) is a research proposal. This is a very detailed document that outlines exactly what it is you want to do or study. The research proposal forms the basis for the entire project including your institutional review board submission. Whether you are a novice or a professional we can help you draft your proposal.
Research Project Implementation: If you are in need of conducting a research project and also want someone else to manage the project for you we can assist with that as well. This includes every kind of study from a single case study to a large health outcomes study.
Data Analysis: Once you gather your data chances are that you will need to analyze that data including conducting statistical analysis. We can help you interpret, analyze and report on your data.
Institutional Review Board (IRB) Submission: All proposed research needs to undergo IRB review in order to make sure that Human Subjects Protections are in place. There are a number of public and private IRB’s that provide such services but the first step is preparing the paperwork for IRB submission. We have extensive experience in this regard and can help you every step of the way.
Database Development and Management: If your project involves collecting data you will need to develop a database in order to capture that data and to access it for analysis later. We can assist you in every aspect of this process.
Case Studies: Case studies are the heart of all research and are the easiest and best way for the average practitioner to contribute to the research base in chiropractic.
